Prossimamente foto dell'evento.

WorldForumTheatreFestival Austria 2009in memoriam AUGUSTO BOAL (1931-2009)DATES and FACTSDate: October 22nd to November 1st 2009 (October 22nd to 26th in several cities and regions of Austria,

Idea: Forum Theatre groups and professionals from Austria and all over the world will present Forum Theatre in its social, political, pedagogical, individual and aesthetic dimensions through performances, workshops and panel discussions over an eleven day period. The festival is a theatrical meeting place for socially, politically, pedagogically, communicatively und artistically active people, a top event full of encounter, movement, meaning, contact and admiration; emotional and dedicated; intellectual and pleasurable, encouraging and heartening, critical and fun, oppressive and liberating; with development, creativity, timeliness, impact and sustainability – an absolute highlight and international focus for the actors and the participating audiences of Forum Theatre.
Course of events: First there are going to be Forum Theatre events in several Austrian cities and regions from October 22nd to 26th 2009. Then, like on a rally, the setting will be focused on Graz from October 27th to November 1st 2009. A cumulative program will be provided with daily workshops, presentation of projects, discussions, performances and internationally outstanding evening acts for eleven days.
Background: The WorldForumTheatreFestival Austria 2009 stands within the tradition of Forum Theatre Festivals in Austria, which took place in 1994, 1999, 2001 and 2004 in Vienna (and partly in other regions, too). Hence there are anniversaries to celebrate. Internationally the WorldForumTheatreFestival Austria 2009 can be seen in the context of a series of the Worldwide Festivals of 1993 ("Teatro do Oprimido" in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and 1997 ("The Ripple Effect" in Toronto, Canada). 2009 has been declared the “European Year of Creativity“. Creativity means shaping the imagination and the solutions to conflicts. Forum Theatre is creativity. Augusto Boal from Brazil, founder, mentor and figure-head of Forum Theatre, was nominated as candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize 2008 and was author of the World Theatre Day Message 2009. He died in May 2009 – a lot of reasons for providing a large arena for his work.
Topics: How do practicioners of theatre of the oppressed react towards worldwide problems and challenges? How do worldwide issues and conflicts show themselves at regional levels and on a global scale? On this note the events during the festival are going to cope with the following topics: - Global Warning and Warming: may it be climate change, water, (rain‑)forests, pollution or food – the world faces a multitude of ecological challenges. - Women’s Power: women worldwide live within patriarchal structures and relationships which are associated with discrimination and violence. The concern to support the power and creativity of women shall find a voice. - Participation and Human Rights: theatre of the oppressed is part of a worldwide movement in civil society and Human Rights Initiative beyond artistic work.
Objectives: Regional, national and international impulse, energy, inspiration and communication for the Forum Theatre Movement; attractions for the Austrian audience; to increase the public importance of Forum Theatre. Networking of social, cultural, political, pedagogical, educationally and theatrical institutions.
