CAaD (Creative action against discrimination)
Anti racism work becomes more relevant in the face of populist tendencies in in many European countries. In the polarized political debate, it is important to broaden the spectrum of anti racism work in order to increase the sensibility for this issue on a broader basis.
ANTI DISCRIMINATION WORK MUST BE A CENTRAL ISSUE IN ADULT EDUCATORS ACROSS ALL SECTORS.
We detected a blind spot in the field of anti discrimination trainings that we want to fill with the means of creative workshops on topics like identity, community, or communication. There is a certain audience that common anti discrimination trainings do not reach, but which will be reached by our offer:
In this project, we want to create innovative workshop formats that are designed especially for those people, who are put off by “traditional” forms of anti-discrimination workshops. The workshops will be designed in a way that is close to everyday life, have a palpable topic and still treat issues such as discrimination and prejudice, community and identity, communication, etc. Our innovative workshop designs propose formats that link artistic methods with anti- discrimination work and will be compiled in hands-on Tool Kits for educators and trainers in three different fields:
1. Participatory Video: production of a video within a group that works together from the first steps (generating the idea) until the final cut, guided by a facilitator (IO2)
2. Theatre: different forms of theatre workshops, including theatre of the oppressed (IO3)
3. Social media: conscious social media use; also addressing hate speech; creative means including production of GIFs, videos, podcasts, etc. (IO4)
Furthermore we will develop an innovative SET OF EVALUATION TOOLS that are specifically adapted to the needs of such workshops in the ambit of NON FORMAL ADULT EDUCATION and extend the scope of evaluation in comparison to usually used questionnaires. (IO1)
Through the TOOL KITs that we propose in IO2-IO4 we offer trainers and educators a new set of techniques to expand their field of action. Creative means have a strong potential on personal development and offer space for personal reflection on a very personal level. The objective of this project is for more teachers, trainers, and educators to become aware of this potential and offer concrete tools and directions for the implementation.
The main TARGET GROUPS for this project are: Social Workers, Trainers, Teachers, Artists, Multipliers who work in the field of adult education and/or anti-discrimination work and will benefit from our intellectual outputs.
The main beneficiaries are those people who assist the innovative workshop formats developed throughout this project and therefore the anti-discrimination trainings.
